Panic spread near Amla Singh Wala in Mehal Kalan, Barnala, on Monday afternoon after the body of a youth was found on the bank of a local drain.
The deceased was identified as Gurveer Singh (18), a resident of Cheeniwal Kalan in Barnala.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Gurnam Singh of Thulliwal Police Station said the body had been shifted to the Civil Hospital in Barnala for post-mortem examination.
“The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained. Investigations are underway from all possible angles, and the actual cause will only be confirmed after the post-mortem report is received,” the police official said.
