55 OFWs from Dubai, Black Sea arrive in PH

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 55 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Dubai and the Black Sea arrived in the Philippines on Thursday.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said on Facebook that the 38 individuals from Dubai and their 12 dependents, as well as the 17 M/T GAS seamen affected by the Black Sea incident received immediate assistance and support from the government.

"Under the leadership of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), airport assistance, food, financial assistance, and transportation assistance were immediately given to the repatriated OFWs and their dependents," the OWWA said in Filipino and English.

"Temporary accommodations were given to those who needed these...," OWWA added.

"Meanwhile, the 17 Filipino mariners of M/T GAS were also given Special Financial Assistance as part of the government's immediate support. After airport assistance, they were welcomed by their manning agency which gave temporary accommodation and transportation assistance for their return home to their respective provinces while other needed post-arrival arrangements were being made," OWWA said.

The OWWA said the OFWs would continue to be assisted for "reintegration, employment facilitation, livelihood, entrepreneurship, skills training, and other opportunities that can help in their fresh start and long-term recovery."
