In a shocking incident, the bodies of two women were found under mysterious circumstances inside their house in Preet Nagar, under the jurisdiction of the Mahesh Nagar police station in Ambala Cantonment on Friday.

The deceased sisters were identified as Anjana (40) and Manu (45).

The two women had reportedly been living alone in the house for several years and had very little interaction with the neighbours.

As the bodies were in a decomposed condition, police suspect that the women had died several days ago.

The matter came to light after a person washing a car near the house noticed a foul smell coming from inside the premises. He alerted nearby residents, who then informed the police.

After receiving no response from inside, police opened the door and found the bodies in a room. One body was lying on the bed, while the other was found on the floor.

The condition of the house and garbage scattered inside the room suggested that the sisters had been living in poor conditions.

The bodies were shifted to the mortuary of the Civil Hospital in Ambala Cantonment for post-mortem examination.

Jitender Dhillon said, “Neighbours informed us that there had been no activity in the house for the past 15 to 20 days. The house was locked from inside. The deceased were real sisters. The elder sister had been mentally unwell since childhood, while the younger sister used to take care of her. There was no other family member living with them.”

He added that efforts were being made to trace their relatives.

“The exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem reports are received, following which further action will be taken accordingly,” he said.
