SHAH ALAM – A total of 205 records took centre stage at the 10th Gather of Achievers gala night organised by ASEAN Records and ASIA Records, celebrating record holders and recognising 62 new achievements in a single evening.

Held at Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur on Monday, the event drew more than 400 guests, including state leaders, diplomats, senior police officers, government representatives and record holders.

Among the highlights was a live demonstration by a G1 humanoid robot developed by Chinese robotics company Unitree, which secured an ASIA Records title for the most punches delivered by a humanoid robot in two rounds of pad work.

The robot recorded 90 punches while operating autonomously.

Face-changing performer Liew Mun Fung, better known as Kimmy Liew, from Galaxy Event, also earned titles from ASEAN Records and ASIA Records for the fastest synchronised multi-face changes alternated with magic by a single performer, completing the feat in 107 seconds.

Both record attempts were verified on-site, with FEBA Fight Club managing director Cruise Tan acting as the external adjudicator for the robot's attempt.

ASEAN Records and ASIA Records founder, director and chief adjudicator Gillian Ooi said every record attempt had to meet established evidential standards before it could be officially recognised.

“A record is not something you buy. It is something you prove.

“Everyone in the ballroom saw two records measured in front of them. Every other title presented that evening went through the same standard of evidence before it reached the stage,” she said.

Melaka Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Dr Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam attended the gala as guest of honour, alongside Deputy Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin, who delivered an address and witnessed the presentation of record certificates.

Also present were Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid, Yayasan Generasi Malaysia chairman Tan Sri Professor Dr Abdul Latiff Abu Bakar, ASEAN Records Advisory Board chairman Tan Sri Danny Ooi, Laos Ambassador to Malaysia Thepthavone Sengmany and Tajikistan Ambassador to Malaysia Ardasher Qodiri.

Organisations recognised during the gala included the police, Zoo Negara Malaysia and Perbadanan Kota Buku.

In another development, ASEAN Records and ASIA Records announced that both organisations had obtained ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification from SGS, with accreditation from the United Kingdom Accreditation Service and Standards Malaysia.

The certification, valid from Sept 30, 2026, to Sept 30, 2029, covers the organisations' processes for researching, verifying and adjudicating record applications.

ASEAN Records founder, director and chief adjudicator Eldrick Koh said an independent body had audited the organisations' working procedures and found no non-conformities.

“Our record holders, our partners and the public deserve that assurance. When you hold an ASEAN Records or ASIA Records certificate, you can stand behind it,” he said.

The founders also announced plans to broaden the platforms' reach through initiatives covering tourism, food and youth achievements, while continuing to recognise accomplishments across Southeast Asia and the wider Asian region.

The gala also paid tribute to the late Tun Dr Hasmah Mohamad Ali, an ASEAN Records holder who shared an ASIA Records title with her husband, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Guests observed a moment of silence in her memory.

In a joint statement, the founders reaffirmed that the standards governing record certification would remain unchanged as both organisations expanded their platforms.

“Behind every record is someone who refused to give up. Our job is to make sure that when the public looks at that achievement, they can trust it completely. At every Gather of Achievers to come, we will hold to the same standard: evidence first, always,” they said.
