
LAHAD DATU: Three people, including a little girl, were killed, and two others seriously injured in a three-vehicle collision at Jalan Felda Sahabat, Tungku, on Sunday.
Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station Chief Sumsoa Rashid said they were alerted at 6.19pm about the incident involving a four-wheel-drive vehicle (4WD), a sedan and a motorcycle, with a total of 13 victims.
“The deceased include a child and a woman in the sedan and a male motorcyclist. The seriously injured are a man and a woman from the sedan.
“The motorcyclist and a sedan passenger, died at the scene, while another died on the way to the Tungku Health Clinic,” he said.

“The bodies were handed to the police, and the operation ended at 10.06pm,” he added.
District Police Chief ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said preliminary investigation of the 6.50pm incident showed the motorcyclist who was heading towards Felda Sahabat from Lahad Datu had overtaken a vehicle in front and collided with the Proton Saga Aeroback travelling in the opposite direction.
“The impact caused the 62-year-old Aeroback driver to lose control of the wheel and entered the opposite lane before colliding with the 4WD.
“The motorcyclist and one of the passengers in the Aeroback died at the scene. The car driver and two other passengers, including the girl, in the car who suffered serious injuries were rushed to Tungku Health Clinic in an ambulance.
“However, the girl was pronounced dead on arrival. The 4WD driver and his five passengers suffered minor injuries,” he added.
Dzulbaharin said blood samples had been taken from both drivers and the motorcyclist for alcohol and drug tests, and urged witnesses to contact Traffic Investigation Officer Insp. Muhammad Rasul at 089-881255 or the Lahad Datu Police Headquarters to assist in the investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
