'Tungku lacks development due to opposition stronghold’

LAHAD DATU: Tungku needs more development for the well-being of its people, and this can only be realised if the area has a people’s representative from the government.

Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Tungku Division Chief Datuk Abdul Hakim Gulam Hassan, said that Tungku still needs development in terms of basic infrastructure such as roads, water and electricity supply, as well as in the aspect of education.

However, until now, this has not been realised because the area is still ‘held’ by a representative from the opposition.

“Therefore, I hope that all the people in this area can see the achievements and continuous efforts of the state government under the rule of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), including Gagasan Rakyat, in developing and prospering the people.

Abdul Hakim said this at the opening of the Gagasan Rakyat Tungku Division Annual Meeting.

According to Abdul Hakim, who is also a Gagasan Rakyat Supreme Council Member, the government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, is always moving in line with the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) development direction.

This direction, he said, is clear with initiatives aimed at creating inclusive growth and reducing the social gap in Sabah, as well as ensuring that the development carried out benefits all levels of society.

He said that through the SMJ direction, various initiatives have been introduced and various aids have been planned and implemented through human capital and people’s well-being programmes.

“All these efforts and initiatives are implemented for the development of the state and the well-being of the people. I am confident and believe that if this government continues to gain the trust of the people, more development can be implemented.

“I hope that all representatives, starting today, let us move together to campaign to ensure our family members, friends and acquaintances join Gagasan Rakyat to ensure we achieve victory in the upcoming State Election,” he added.

Meanwhile, when met, Abdul Hakim expressed gratitude for the encouraging support from the people in this area for Gagasan Rakyat.

He said that with increasing membership, PGRS is increasingly becoming the people’s choice, including the youth in this area.

“We can see the extraordinary reception and support of the people for Gagasan Rakyat, reflecting the selection of Gagasan Rakyat as the party contesting in the upcoming State Election,” he added.
