Nuh police have registered a case against the drivers of four Thar vehicles, including a groom, after a video showing dangerous driving during a wedding procession went viral on social media.

According to police, Sub-Inspector Yashpal, posted at Nagina police station, was on patrol in Mandikheda village on June 7 when he received a video clip on his mobile phone. Upon examining the footage, police found that a wedding procession of Aaqib, a resident of Nai Nangla village, was heading to Chandeni village.

During the procession, some youths were seen standing and sitting on the roofs of moving Thar vehicles, which were being driven at high speed and in a reckless manner. The registration numbers of the vehicles were also visible in the footage.

“After getting information, a police team reached at Nai Nangla village, but the procession had already departed for Chandni village by then. People present at the scene informed the police that the groom said that they could travel on the vehicle roofs and that marriages don’t happen frequently,” said the police.

Following a prima facie investigation, an FIR has been registered against groom Aaqib and the drivers involved at Nagina police station.

Similar action had been taken earlier by Nuh police in the Tauru Sadar police station area.

“This is the second consecutive case of its kind in the district. Nuh police have sent a clear message that disregarding road safety rules, dangerous stunts and hooliganism during weddings or other events will not be tolerated. Police have appealed to the public to follow traffic rules and ensure their own and others’ safety,” added spokesperson of Nuh police.
