
The Mahendragarh Police arrested two persons and seized 44.840 kg of poppy husk from their possession. A canter used for transporting the contraband was also impounded during the operation carried out by the CIA wing in the Satnali area.
The action was conducted on the directions of Superintendent of Police Deepak.
The CIA team, led by Inspector Dharam Singh, was on routine patrol near Gaushala Mod in Satnali, when it received a tip-off about two persons transporting a large consignment of narcotics in a canter from Surajgarh towards Satnali.
Acting on the information, the police had set up barricades near the outskirts of Baas village and launched a vehicle-checking drive. The suspected canter coming from the Surajgarh side was stopped and the driver and his accomplice were apprehended.
They were identified as Manoj and Ravinder, residents of Naugaon village in Jhajjar district. Following the provisions of the NDPS Act, a gazetted officer was called to the spot before the search was conducted.
During the search of the vehicle in the presence of the gazetted officer, the police recovered two plastic sacks filled with poppy husk weighing 44.840 kg.
An FIR has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the NDPS Act at the Satnali police station.
Police said further investigation and interrogation are underway.
