
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) late on Friday detected a 5.3-magnitude earthquake in the province of Albay.
According to Phivolcs, the quake was reported 15 kilometers east of Santo Domingo, Albay with a depth of 9 km.
Earlier, the bureau reported that the quake measured 5.4.
Intensity V was reported in Santo Domingo and Legazpi City in Albay, while the following towns also reported the following intensities:
Intensity IV - City of Tabaco, City of Ligao, and Malilipot, Albay; City of Sorsogon, Donsol, and Irosin, Sorsogon
Intensity III - City of Naga and Malinao, Albay; City of Sorsogon, Juban, and Prieto Diaz, Sorsogon; Monreal, Masbate
Intensity II - Goa, Camarines Sur; Bulan, Sorsogon; Allen, Biri, Bobon, Catarman, Lavezares, Rosario, and San Jose, Northern Samar; City of Masbate, Dimasalang, and San Fernando, Masbate
Meanwhile, instrumental intensities were recorded in the following cities:
Intensity VI - City of Tabaco, Albay
Intensity V - Castilla, Sorsogon
Intensity IV - City of Sorsogon, Sorsogon; City of Iriga, Camarines Sur
Intensity III - Prieto Diaz, Sorsogon; Monreal, Masbate; Sagnay, Sipocot, and Pili, Camarines Sur; Mercedes, Camarines Norte
Intensity II - Pasacao and Ragay, Camarines Sur; Milagros, Masbate; San Roque, Northern Samar; Gandara, Samar
Intensity I - Aroroy, Masbate; Gumaca, Quezon
Aftershocks and damage are expected following the quake.
