
SANDAKAN: Five illegal immigrants were detained in an integrated operation conducted at the Central Market, here on Wednesday.
The operation, known as “Ops Poket,” was carried out by the Sandakan District Police in collaboration with the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM), the Sandakan Municipal Council (MPS), and the National Registration Department (JPN).
All individuals were detained under the Immigration Act 1959/63 for failing to produce valid identification documents and are suspected of overstaying in the state.

Acting Sandakan District Police Chief, Superintendent Ramasamy Kuppan, said all those arrested were taken to the Sandakan District Police Headquarters and handed over to the Immigration Department for further action.
He said such operations would continue to ensure public safety and public order.
