
Kota Kinabalu: A total of 57 participants are taking part in the Malaysian Basketball Association Level 1 Coaching Course held at the Olympia Badminton Arena in Inanam which started on Thursday.
The four-day course is organised by Sabah State Basketball Association (SSBA), and Sabah Sports Commissioner Sempini Langiton, who officiated the programme praised, SSBA for their initiative to produce more qualified coaches in the State.
She hoped with more coaches, they would be able to produce a well planned, integrated and comprehensive programme to further develop the sport in the State. She also urged more basketball clubs to register with Sabah Sports Commission as members of their respective district associations as it will be a source to produce more potential personnel, athletes, coaches and others to ensure the State body remains active.
Meanwhile, also present at the opening ceremony were SSBA president Phan Chee Yong and Chua Kok Kian from Malaysian Basketball Association as well as officials from National Sports Institute.
