
Kota Kinabalu: Tiger Taekwondo (WT) Club emerged second runners-up in the 8th Sabah Youth and State Open Taekwondo Championship organised by United Taekwondo Sabah Association (UTSA) held at the Badminton Hall, Keningau Sport Complex from March 2-5.
The four-day tournament was
participated by 670 Kyorugi and 269 Poomsae athletes from 26 taekwondo clubs all over Sabah affiliated to UTSA under Taekwondo Malaysia ™.
Tiger Taekwondo (WT) Club team were led by Head Coach Master Rizal Aninus, Team Manager Ahmad Roshidi Abu Mansor and Club Advisor Mohd Hashim Hassan and supported by a team of experienced coaches.
Thirty-six Kyorugi athletes brought back 11 gold, 3 silver and 11 bronze medals. The club also sent six below 8-year-old athletes to compete in Speed Kicking categories and managed to clinch one gold and one silver.
President Harry K. Lajanga was thrilled with the club’s achievement at the tournament which saw it clinch 2nd runners-up in the women’s Kyorugi category and 3rd runners-up in the men’s Kyorugi category enabling the club to emerge the overall 2nd runners-up. He is confident that the club will produce more talented taekwondo athletes to represent Sabah and Malaysia in the near future.
