61 OFWs repatriated from Kuwait, Bahrain

THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) reported on Saturday that 61 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) were brought home from Kuwait and Bahrain on Friday.

The move was part of the government repatriation process for Filipinos trapped in the ongoing war in the Middle East.

The latest batch, composed of 50 OFWs along with their dependents, arrived on board Gulf Air Flight GF154 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 at 11:06 a.m. on Friday. Fourteen of them came from Kuwait, while 36 came from Bahrain.

They were followed by 11 more OFWs, also from Kuwait, onboard an Etihad Airways commercial flight at NAIA Terminal 3.

The repatriated Filipinos were assisted by DMW and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration representatives upon their arrival.

“The DMW continues to coordinate with various agencies to strengthen post-repatriation assistance for returning OFWs. This includes profiling, skills assessment, job matching, livelihood assistance and National Reintegration Network Job Fairs in different provinces. With every return of our fellow Filipinos, the government aims to ensure not only their safe return, but also their recovery and a fresh start with their families,” the agency said in a statement in Filipino.
