Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois denies having a previous agreement with Barcelona.

Courtois is denying claims made by former Blaugrana director Javier Bordas that a deal almost occurred in 2014. At that time, Courtois was owned by Chelsea but was coming off an impressive three-year loan spell at Atletico Madrid.

"It is not true that I had an agreement," Courtois stated during Belgium's press conference ahead of their Nations League match against Denmark. "I was at Chelsea, playing for Atletico on loan, I knew I would return to Chelsea and I wanted to play there. I don't know why this has been said but it's not true.

"I don't think I have to comment on things that people say in newspapers and such. I think people know that my dream has always been to play for Real Madrid and that I'm happy there."
