Pakistani charged with sexual abuse against boy, 14

Kota Kinabalu: A 20-year-old Pakistani was charged with committing sexual abuse against a 14-year-old boy.

Farman Ullah pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus, to the charge against him on Tuesday.

He is accused of committing the offence against the boy by touching his body at 10.30am on March 5 this year at Kedai Runcit Baz & 3 Borneo 2 in Telipok town.

The offence under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 provides for a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping, on conviction.

The court set Apr 28 for case management and ordered Farman to be remanded further pending the date.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Mas Izzaty Lokman appeared for the prosecution.

Meanwhile, a man was jailed five years and ordered to get a stroke of the cane for taking syabu repeatedly.

Sessions Court Judge Noor Hafizah meted out the sentence to Mohamad Shafendi Matisin who pleaded guilty to the charge against him on Tuesday.

Mohamad was found taking the drugs on Aug 17, 2020 after his urine tested positive for drugs at the Tuaran police station and that he has several convictions for taking drugs.

The offence comes under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 39C(1) of the same Act which provides for a jail term of between five and seven years, and whipping, on conviction.

The court ordered Mohamad to serve the jail sentence from the date of his arrest.

After completing his jail sentence, the court ordered Mohamad to be placed under police supervision for two years.
