Atalanta are set to activate their option-to-buy clause for Juventus defender Cristian Romero.
Romero has excelled on loan in Bergamo this season and Atalanta want to activate their €16m purchase clause.
And according to Fabrizio Romano, Atalanta could look to sell on Romero if a suitable offer arrives.
United have scouted Argentina international Romero this season as they look for a centre-back to partner Harry Maguire.
However, the Red Devils have Romero, along with Lille defender Sven Botman, as back-up options in their transfer plans.
They have also been linked with Real Madrid star Raphael Varane, Sevilla youngster Jules Kounde and Villarreal lynchpin Pau Torres.
