Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says Manchester United should be competing for Harry Kane.

Redknapp insists that if the England skipper joins new £100million Manchester City signing Jack Grealish at the Etihad there will be no shifting the title trophy from Pep Guardiola's grasp.

Redknapp told the Mirror: “If Harry Kane follows Jack Grealish to Manchester City, the title race will be over before it starts.

“If I was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, I would definitely try and nick Harry because, for sure, that would make all the difference.

“What a message that would send out if United could take him off City. That would give them a real chance of being champions.

“I know it's a massive investment, but that's one which would be worth the money because Harry guarantees you 20-odd goals a season. United are putting a squad together.

“You look at their team, they have just signed Raphael Varane, they already have Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw has come back after a great Euros, Bruno Fernandes is there – they are looking a team.

Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford, bags of pace. Jadon Sancho has come in, so they could be a team who could be up there pushing. And if they got Harry Kane, they would be very close."
