Aston Villa and Tottenham are facing a new row regarding their players going on international duty.

The clubs believed there was an agreement for Argentina to send their players back early during this break, which would result in them only missing one club match as a result of COVID-19 quarantine protocols in the UK.

According to the Daily Mail, Spurs and Villa are upset, as they believe Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni is backing out of an agreement between both parties.

The situation impacts Villa duo Emiliano Martinez and Emiliano Buendia, and Spurs duo Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso.

Scaloni said in a recent press conference: "We gave the list for the three games and there are no doubts about that.

"The players are here to play all three games.

"We never had a refusal from the clubs.

"We spoke and reached a conclusion that they had to come."
