Sabah records 257 cases and three deaths

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah recorded 257 new Covid-19 cases Thursday, a slight drop compared to 280 on Wednesday, and three deaths - two in Keningau and one in Tambunan.

Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said this brought the State’s cumulative cases to 243,495.

“Kota Kinabalu tops the list with 65 cases, an increase of 12 compared to Wednesday’s figure,” he said, adding eight districts recorded double-digit cases, 15 districts single-digit cases and four districts not recording any new cases.

Two districts, namely Kinabatangan and Ranau, recorded a significant reduction with 24 cases and 18 cases less than Wednesday’s figures, respectively.

Masidi said nine districts recorded an increase in cases, with three districts showing a relatively high increase, namely Tuaran (+22 cases), Kota Kinabalu (+12 cases) and Sandakan (+10 cases).

“Of the 257 cases, 254 patients are in Category 1 and 2, two cases in Category 3 and no cases in Categories 4 and 5. Sabah Health Department is still evaluating one case.

“A total of146 cases or 56.81 per cent are from close contact screening, followed by 93 cases or 36.19pc from symptomatic screening, 15 or 5.83pc from other screenings and three cases or 1.17pc from the Jalan Kem Bina Cluster in Kinabatangan,” he said.
