Many people often make reading a new year’s resolution. Just like many other new year resolutions, this one often gets abandoned. The reason for this is that people aren’t finding ways to make reading – easier or enjoyable.
Here are 5 tips to help you read more this year:
1. Read More Than One Book At A Time

If you want to read more books, try reading two books at a time.
You might think that sounds impossible, but here’s the trick – read two very different books at the same time.
For example, reading a manga that is light and easy in between breaks from reading a heavy non-fiction book.
2. Schedule Reading In Your Calendar

Wanting to read more and doing it are two very different things.
Often, “wants” don’t turn into “actions” because we do not schedule the time for it.
Block 30 mins to an hour of reading every day or 2-3 times a week, make sure to state it in your planner or calendar (whatever your schedule allows, just SCHEDULE IT or you’ll never get any reading done!)
3. DNF The Book That Doesn’t Make You Excited

DNF means “do not finish”. A lot of people feel ashamed for not finishing a book/ditching a book halfway. This is a common feeling of guilt among readers.
I’m here to tell you that you should DITCH IT!
Your time is precious, if you feel uninterested mid-way of a book, you should read something else that makes you enjoy reading. If you still need help deciding, check out this guide.
4. Read Shorter Books

You wanna read more books in a year? Then read shorter books. If your goal is to increase your book count this year – try reading short stories or poetry books.
5. Try E-Books Or Audiobooks

If reading a physical book is difficult for you, try different formats of reading.
An audiobook is a great option for those who are on the go. One thing I like to do is to listen to audiobooks while going to the gym or getting a walk. That way I’m building two good habits – reading and exercising.
If audiobooks are not for you, try e-books. You can read them anywhere and on most mobile devices.
