
Kota Kinabalu: A 33-year-old man was charged with committing criminal breach of trust involving a sum of RM8,979.35.
Jamal Amdus pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus, to the charge against him.
Jamal is accused of breaching the trust given to him as assistant supervisor entrusted with the sales revenue amounting to RM7,120.35 on Dec 9, 2019 and RM1,859 on Dec 10, 2019, by not banking in the money into the MR D.I.Y Sdn Bhd’s account.
The offence allegedly took place at 12.55pm on Dec 10, 2019 at the Mr D.I.Y Plaza Wawasan, here.
The offence under Section 408 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between one year and 14 years, and with whipping, and liable to a fine, on conviction.
The court set March 24 for mention via Zoom pending the appointment of a counsel.
Jamal was released on a bail of RM10,000 with two sureties pending the date.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mas Izzaty Lokman appeared for the prosecution while Jamal was not represented.
Meanwhile, the court set March 2 for e-review the case of a 33-year-old man charged with two counts of committing criminal breach of trust involving a sum of RM25,689.15.
Sessions Court Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim fixed the date for Jerome Harry Dominic, for the Deputy Public Prosecutor to get hold of the statement of bank account of the company.
On the first count, Jerome is accused of breaching the trust given to him as assistant manager of Bataras Mall entrusted with the daily sales revenue amounting RM16,044.15 which he should bank-in the money into the company account but did not do so.
He allegedly committed the offence between 11.30am and noon on Feb 10, 2021 at the Bataras Mall in Telipok Ria, Tuaran.
On the second count, Jerome allegedly committed the offence in which he was entrusted with another daily sales revenue of RM9,645 but he did not bank- in the money into the company account at the same place and time on Feb 11, 2021.
The court extended the bail offered to Jerome pending the date.
