Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s new Covid-19 cases rose to 416 on Monday from 339 the day earlier due to a spike in cases in Kota Kinabalu (+72), Penampang (+23) and Papar (+22), said Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

“Kota Kinabalu is back in the triple-digits with 137 new cases, followed by Penampang (43), Tuaran (32), Beaufort (19), Kota Marudu (15), Kuala Penyu (12) and Sandakan (10),” he said in a statement, Monday.

He said seven districts recorded two-digit cases, while 17 recorded single-digit cases. Semporna and Nabawan did not record any new cases.

Of the caseload, 62.74 per cent were sporadic infections while 24.04 per cent were close contacts. He added that two deaths were recorded, with one each in Penampang and Kudat, while no new clusters were identified.

“Two clusters were declared closed, namely the Jubi Tambulion Cluster in Kota Belud and Kg Lampada Cluster in Kota Marudu. There are 12 active clusters in Sabah to date,” said Masidi.

He said the majority of cases are mild, with 408 out of 416 cases being category one and two infections, which is 98.08 per cent.

“Four cases are in category three, one in category four and three in category five,” he added.
