Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s cases dipped marginally to 402 on Tuesday from 416 the day earlier, while three deaths were recorded, with one each in Beaufort, Ranau and Tuaran.

Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said districts that usually influence the rise and fall of the caseload, namely Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, Papar and Tuaran, recorded relatively lower figures.

“Kota Kinabalu recorded 119 cases, Penampang 34, Papar 31 and Tuaran 17,” he said in a statement, Tuesday.

He said 13 districts recorded double-digit cases, while 11 districts recorded single-digit cases. Semporna and Tongod did not record any new cases.

He added that 57.21 per cent of cases were sporadic infections, while 27.61 per cent were close contacts.

No new clusters were identified, while three clusters were declared closed, namely the Puri Ranau Cluster, Jalan Sugut Ranau Cluster and Kuala Tongod Cluster.

“With these three clusters closed, Sabah is left with nine active clusters to date,” Masidi added.

The majority of cases are mild, with 388 out of 402 cases being category one and two infections, while two are in category three, seven in category four and five in category five.

Some 1,309 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from the hospital while 497 patients are currently receiving treatment at hospitals, low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRCs), prisons/temporary detention centres and private facilities.

On Sabah’s immunisation programme, Masidi said 4,828 individuals were vaccinated on March 21, of which 4,828 were adults while 67 were teenagers and 875 were children.

As of March 21, he said a total of 2,405,769 individuals have completed both doses, of which 76.91 per cent were adults, while 2,554,525 have gotten their first dose, of which 78.47 per cent were adults.

Masidi added that a total of 332,289 teenagers have received their first dose, while 316,385 have completed both doses, which is 74.23 per cent of the teenage population.
