Kota Kinabalu: Civil servants in Sabah are urged to abide by the standard operating procedures (SOPs) amid the State Government’s decision to allow the public sector to operate at full capacity, effective immediately.

Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said civil servants who are tested positive for Covid-19 and their close contacts are exempted from returning to the office.

Sabah recorded 2,158 cases on Tuesday and six deaths, with one each in Kota Marudu, Tawau, Penampang, Beluran, Lahad Datu and Kota Kinabalu.

“Kota Kinabalu continued to top the list with 651 cases, followed by Tuaran (142), Papar (135), Keningau (130), Beaufort (130), Kota Belud (120), Penampang (111) and Putatan (100).

“The caseload dipped slightly. However, 17 out of 27 districts in Sabah recorded a higher daily figure and only nine districts recorded a district,” he said.

Of the 2,158 caseload, Masidi said 247 involved children aged below 11, of which 117 were children aged below five.

He said 60.15 per cent of cases were sporadic infections, while 29.24 per cent were close contacts.

Masidi said the majority of cases are mild infections, with 2,143 out of 2,158 cases being category one and two infections, which is 99.3 per cent.

“Six cases are in category three, six in category four and three in category five,” he added.

Some 5,294 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from the hospital while 1,674 patients are currently receiving treatment at hospitals, low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRCs), prisons/temporary detention centres and private facilities.

On Sabah’s immunisation programme, Masidi said 14,627 individuals were vaccinated on Feb 28, of which 11,751 were adults while 139 were teenagers and 2,737 children.

As of Feb 28, he said a total of 2,413,488 individuals have completed both doses, of which 77.3 per cent were adults, while 2,506,357 have gotten their first dose, of which 78.01 per cent were adults.

Masidi added that a total of 338,893 teenagers have received their first dose, while 313,677 have completed both doses, which is 73.6 per cent of the teenage population. A total of 48,118 children have received their first dose.
