Kota Kinabalu: The number of new Covid-19 infections in Sabah dipped for the third day running to 58 cases on Monday.
Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the figure is the lowest since May 14, 2021, and that Monday’s tally is 11 cases lower than Sunday’s 69.
In a statement, he said the situation in Sabah continued to stabilise.
“In the last 24 hours, no new infections were reported in 13 of the State’s 27 districts.”
Seven districts recorded an increase, namely Kota Kinabalu (+2), Penampang (+2), Sandakan (+2), Semporna (+2), Beluran (+2), Kota Marudu (+1) and Tambunan (+1).
Kota Kinabalu remains the district that recorded new double-digit cases.
Given the large percentage of sporadic infections, signs of stabilisation of Covid-19 infection cases in Sabah should be observed.
“Today, sporadic infections account for 62 per cent of all new cases. This high percentage serves as a reminder that if communities default on following the standard operating procedures (SOPs), the number of everyday infections might vary substantially,” he said.
A total of 54 of the 58 new patients on Monday were in Categories One and Two, one in Category Three, two in Category Four and one in Category Five.
