TAWAU: Marine police seized a total of 101 boxes containing 17 packets of cooking oil each, at a house in a water village in Kg Batu 4, Jalan Apas around 4.40pm on Wednesday.

Tawau Marine Police Commanding Officer DSP Ridzauddin Selamat said a 25-year-old local man was also detained at the premises, which was believed to be used as a store before being smuggled out.

He said his team on Op Gelora Khas/Op Kontraban assignment raided the premises after receiving information from the Intelligence Operations Unit. “A pile of boxes containing various brands of polybag cooking oil estimated to be worth RM6,060 was discovered in the house,” he said.

Under the Control of Supply Act 1961, the arrest and seizure were brought to the Tawau marine police base for further investigation, he said. He urged those with relevant information to channel information to the Sabah Marine Police Region Four via WhatsApp at 013-9391197 or the Tawau Marine Police Operations Room at 089-983628.
