Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff is pushing for talks with Manchester United.
Sky Sports says Longstaff wants the chance to speak to United to discuss a potential move.
Should St James' Park bigwigs be unwilling to open that door though, Longstaff will respect their decision.
United would subsequently have to accept that they will fail in luring him away if this proves to be the case.
He is understood to be fully committed to Newcastle, and is not expected to force a move at this stage.
