Aarti of Government Model High School, Sector 37, defeated Aditi Thakur of St Xavier’s School, Sector 44, to march into the semifinals of the 46-49kg event on the opening day of the 39th Sub-Juniors (Boys) and 20th Sub-Juniors (Girls) Chandigarh State Boxing Championships.
In the other quarterfinal, Swati of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sector 32, defeated Pratha Chauhan of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 35, as the referee stopped the bout.
In the boys’ sub-junior semifinals, Lakshya of Government Model High School, Sector 48, defeated Armaan Rawat of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 19, to move ahead in the 30-33 kg event. Shaurya of the Sector 42 Boxing Coaching Centre won the second semifinal by defeating Sagar of Sector 56 Coaching Centre.
In the 33-35kg event, Sourav of Sector 42 defeated Kartik Nahar of the Sector 38 government school, while Armaan Rana of the Sector 56 centre outplayed Nirbhay of Moti Ram Arya School, Sector 27. Gaurakh of VB23 Club defeated Jaspreet Singh of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Raipur, and Yogesh of the Sector 42 centre defeated Priyanshu Negi of Government Model High School, Sector 49.
In the 37-40kg category, Jashan Kataria of Sector 42 Centre defeated Rishi of Government Model High School, Sector 12, and Aditya of SD Club routed Dinesh of KV School, Sector 31. Chaitanya Gaur of KB DAV School, Sector 7, won the 49-52kg event by defeating Tanishq Pawar of the Sector 56 centre, and Karanveer Sandhu of St Joseph’s School, Sector 44, outplayed Deep Dhillon of the Sector 42 centre.
In the 52-55kg event, Aarav Rana of Sector 56 defeated Aniket of Burail Club in the first round, while Aarya Singh Maurya of St Joseph’s School defeated Shaswat of St Xavier’s School, Sector 44.
In the 55-58kg category, Dev Kumar of the Sector 42 team posted a 5-0 win over Abhinav of Kundan International School, Sector 46. In the 61-64kg event, Angad Singh of the Sector 42 centre marched into the semis by defeating Ayush Pandey of St Joseph’s. Viren Dahiya of PML SD School, Sector 32, defeated Shardul Singh Sunghalk of St Joseph’s School.
In the +70kg quarterfinal, Manchet Singh of St Joseph’s School defeated Yash Dalal of St Soldier’s School, Sector 27.
