MANILA, Philippines — Filipino tennis ace Alex Eala climbed three spots to No. 41 at the WTA live rankings after reaching the WTA 1000 Madrid Open second round on Wednesday.
Ranked No. 44 officially, Eala defeated No. 116 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia in the first round, 6-3, 6-3.
The victory boosted Eala by 30 net points, raising her total to 1,315 and allowing her to overtake three players in the rankings.
