MANILA, Philippines — Concluding her BNP Paribas Open tournament debut with a round of 16 exit on Wednesday, Alex Eala turns her focus to the Miami Open slated from March 15 to 29.

Eala competed in the 1000-level tourney last year as a wildcard, and went on to defeat three Grand Slam champs in Jelena Ostapeko, Madison Keys, and Iga Swiatek, setting her breakout year in the WTA Tour in motion.

Eala's historic run ended in a semifinal loss to Jessica Pegula.

This year, Eala is expected to make her Miami Open return as a seeded entrant for being a top 32 player.

Like in the Indian Wells, Eala will most likely receive a first-round bye.
