Alexandra Eala is already shifting her attention to the Miami Open following her early departure from Indian Wells.

Eala continued her rise at Indian Wells, making it to the round of 16 in her debut appearance at the historic tournament in California.

The Filipina star was seeded 31st at the WTA 1000 event, but Linda Noskova ended her run with a dominant 6-2, 6-0 win.

The 20-year-old is looking ahead to Miami with confidence. It is where she first made a name for herself on tour back in 2025, and she is aiming to build on that reputation this time around.

Eala said: “I can’t speak for the future and what will actually happen when I arrive in Miami.

“Miami last year was a beautiful time for me and it was the start of all of this, but since then I’ve achieved a lot as well.

“I’ve grown a lot and I’ve had so many good matches, so many tough losses, so much experience since then.

“And that’s helped me build confidence, self-esteem, and I know that I belong here.

“So it doesn’t matter if I win the tournament in Miami or if I lose in the first round, I know I’m here and I’m here to stay.”

Eala entered the 2025 Miami Open ranked 140th in the world but made a stunning run to the semifinals.

The Filipina favourite’s run ended with a loss to Jessica Pegula, but not before she had defeated three former Grand Slam champions: Iga Swiatek, Madison Keys, and Jelena Ostapenko.

This time, she will come into Miami as a seeded player. And after becoming the first Filipino to compete in an Indian Wells main draw match, there is plenty of attention on her next step.

Alexandra Eala thriving off mutual fan love

Eala may not yet be among the household names like Aryna Sabalenka or Coco Gauff, but she is quickly carving out her own place in the sport, fuelled in part by a growing fanbase from the Philippines.

Her matches and even practice sessions regularly draw large crowds, a reflection of both her popularity back home and her ability to connect with supporters wherever she plays.

Despite being just 20, Eala is already known for how well she handles that attention. Her interactions are always genuine, and she consistently shows appreciation for those who support her journey.

Beyond her skill on the court, it is that personal touch that helps strengthen her backing. Her track record against top-tier players continues to build confidence among fans who believe she can deliver big results.

Eala will have strong support again at the Miami Open – a place where she has already built some special memories and could be poised to add more to her story this year.
