FILIPINO world pool champions Rubilen Amit and Chezka Centeno try to stave off elimination at the WPA Women’s 10-Ball World Championship in Rome, Italy Monday.
Winning against German Ina Kaplan and Centeno to start her campaign, Amit needed just one more victory to make the last 16 but fell to American Sofia Mast in the winners qualification, 4-3, 2-4, 1-4, on Sunday.
The loss relegated the 3-time world champ to the losers qualification where she faces either Argentine Soledad Ayala or French Rachelle Enfroy on Monday at 6:30 p.m. for the last 16 spot.
A loss means elimination for Amit.
On the other hand, Centeno needs two more wins to make the final 16.
After falling to Amit, Centeno defeated American Kennedy Meyman, 4-0, 4-0, in loser round 2 on Sunday to stay alive.
Centeno battles Indonesian Silviana Lu in loser round 3 on Monday at 4 p.m. for a spot in the loser qualification (final round in loser pathway) against German Pia Filler at 8:30 p.m.
A loss in any of those matches means the end of campaign for Centeno, but winning back-to-back will send her to the last 16.
Meanwhile, Centeno and Amit gun for a semifinal berth in the Women’s Double Master Showdown on Monday at 10 p.m.
Their quarterfinal opponents were not yet determined as of writing.
