Civil Defence Force to mobilise personnel and assets across three states to boost safety, patrols and emergency response during festive period.
PETALING JAYA: The Civil Defence Force (APM) Kelantan will deploy 360 personnel daily across Kelantan, Pahang and Terengganu for Phase 2 of Op Prihatin 2026, in conjunction with Aidilfitri.
APM Kelantan, in a statement issued today, said the deployment will be supported by 108 operational assets to enhance patrol coverage and emergency response throughout the festive period.
“Kelantan will deploy 49 assets, including 11 four-wheel-drive vehicles, 19 ambulances and 19 motorcycles. Pahang will deploy 35 assets, while Terengganu will mobilise 24,” it said.
The operation will run from March 19 to March 29, covering federal and state roads, as well as key hotspots such as highways, rest areas, tourist locations and places of worship.
The assets comprise four-wheel-drive vehicles, ambulances and motorcycles deployed across the three states.
APM Kelantan said the deployment strategy was guided by operational data from previous festive periods.
During the Chinese New Year phase in 2025, a total of 54 cases involving 58 victims were recorded in the East Coast zone. Minor vehicle breakdowns formed the largest category with 22 cases, followed by road accidents with 10 cases.
Other incidents included obstruction removal such as fallen objects (eight cases), fallen trees (five cases), animal rescue (five cases) and other miscellaneous cases.
The pattern shifted slightly during the Aidilfitri phase, where total cases rose to 73 involving 75 victims.
Miscellaneous cases formed the largest share with 29 incidents, followed by vehicle breakdowns at 17 cases and road accidents at 14.
Additional cases involved fallen trees (four cases), obstruction removal (three cases) and animal rescue (six cases).
The figures show a shift in the concentration of cases between states across different festive periods.
APM Kelantan said the operation will focus on assisting stranded motorists, responding to emergencies, clearing road obstructions and providing safety advisory services to road users.
