Approaching LPA likely to turn into a storm

THE low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) could become a tropical depression, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Monday.

The LPA was estimated at 1,515 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao.

Pagasa did not say if the LPA would enter PAR, but its trough or extension is already affecting Mindanao and Palawan, bringing cloudiness with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

The Bicol Region and Quezon would likely have cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies — winds that carry warm and humid weather.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country would have a similar weather pattern due to the effect of localized thunderstorms in 24 hours.
