Big man Justin Arana overpowered Macau’s front court as he led the Converge FiberXers to a 149-124 annihilation of the Giant Pandas for their third straight win in the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup on Friday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Arana finished with a new career-high 39 points while grabbing 12 rebounds against the FiberXers, who managed to wrest the lead, 83-82 after trailing by as many as 19 points in the first half.
But with the former PBA Rookie of the Year scoring at will in the paint, the FiberXers eventually pulled away for good, with the team scoring 82 points in the second half.
The 27-year-old Arana went 18-of-24 from the field.
Seven other local players scored in double figures, with Mikey Williams chipping in 16 and Alec Stockton adding 15.
Import Jalen Hudson had another quiet scoring night, scoring just 12 points in the game.
Ramon Cao led Macau with 41 points.
Converge improved to 3-0 to grab a share of the top spot with NLEX in Group A.
Macau remained winless in three games, with the foreign guest squad losing top gunner Damian Chongqui getting tossed out with 5:26 to go in the second quarter for throwing the ball at a referee.
