A 28-year-old Chinese national was robbed of RM2.91 million in cash, jewellery and watches by masked men in Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.
KUALA LUMPUR: Police are intensifying efforts to track down a group of masked and armed men believed to have fled with cash and luxury goods worth an estimated RM2.91 million from a luxury residence in Jalan Ampang here on Monday (September 7).
Wangsa Maju district police chief ACP Annas Sulaiman said the incident was believed to have occurred between 2 pm and 3 pm at a residential unit in Pavilion Embassy, before the victim, a 28-year-old Chinese national, lodged a police report at 5.31 pm.
He said initial investigations found that several masked men wearing gloves and armed with knives had broken into the house.
“The suspects fled with cash, jewellery and luxury watches, with the losses estimated at RM2.91 million.
“They also damaged the victim’s mobile phone and took his passport,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Annas said the victim did not suffer any serious injuries, adding that the case is being investigated under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code.
“Members of the public with any information about the incident are urged to come forward and assist the investigation by contacting the Wangsa Maju district police headquarters operations centre at 03-9289 9222, the Kuala Lumpur police hotline at 03-2115 9999, or any nearby police station,” he said.
