This is the moment a Great British Bake Off contestant’s cake fell to the floor as it was being judged by Paul Hollywood and Nigella Lawson during Tuesday’s show (6 October).
The showstopper challenge this week entailed creating wearable bakes, with creations including a rum fruit carrot cake shaped like a hat and a banana cake wig, as well as an almond sponge cake designed to look like angel wings.
Political economy student Moyin’s top hat design was also among the wearable bakes sand, despite judge Paul Hollywood describing it as “a great cake”, it fell onto the floor after the TV chef cut a slice.
“It needs to sit slightly lower on the head, then it wouldn’t have wobbled so much,” the TV chef explained after the blunder, and his fellow judge Nigella Lawson hailed the cake as “sensational”.
