Julian Rijkhoff scored an easy tap in for Dortmund's first goal from a Samuel Bamba pass.
Then Bamba netted to make it 2-0, which appeared to kill any momentum Newcastle had built up.
While they did get one goal back, they never threatened to equalize or win the game.
