Delhi’s long-delayed Barapullah Phase-III corridor is finally set for completion, PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh announced on Tuesday. The project will be ready for inauguration by June 30.

The minister conducted a detailed inspection of the site and reviewed ongoing construction work with senior PWD officials and engineers. He said the remaining works are progressing at a fast pace and the government is committed to completing the crucial mobility corridor within the announced timeline.

Barapullah Phase-III, stalled for nearly a decade due to technical, environmental, and procedural hurdles, is expected to provide major traffic relief across east and central Delhi. Once operational, the corridor will improve connectivity between Sarai Kale Khan, Mayur Vihar, NH-24, DND Flyway, and Ring Road, significantly reducing travel time for commuters.

The project is a landmark urban infrastructure initiative. It will feature India’s first flyover corridor with a dedicated cycle track to encourage eco-friendly and sustainable transportation. Officials said the corridor will also include pedestrian-friendly infrastructure and modern urban design features.

A major engineering component is the bridge structure over the Yamuna floodplain. Officials said special care was taken to ensure the river’s natural flow remains undisturbed. The bridge has been constructed with pillar spans extending nearly 125 metres, minimising interference within the active river zone and reducing environmental impact.

Speaking during the inspection, Parvesh Sahib Singh said the government’s focus has been to complete projects that Delhi residents have been waiting for several years.

“Barapullah Phase-III is not just a flyover project; it is a transformative mobility corridor that will change the way Delhi moves,” he said.

The minister added that the government has closely monitored approvals, inter-departmental coordination, and technical challenges to prevent further delays.

PWD officials said finishing works related to carriageways, loops, connectivity points, safety systems, cycle tracks, and landscaping are currently underway at full pace. Regular site inspections are being carried out to ensure quality standards and timely completion.

Once completed, the Barapullah Phase-III corridor is expected to become one of Delhi’s most important signal-free transport links while also promoting greener urban mobility infrastructure.
