The Cycling and Adventure Club of the school concluded its eighth annual cyclothon — Cyclothon 2026 — a high-altitude expedition from Manali to Leh covering 425 km. The cyclothon was flagged off by Dr Anirudh Tewari, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chandigarh Kendra. The team of 20 students and six teachers began its journey at the North Portal of the Atal Tunnel, Manali, and concluded at the Hall of Fame, Leh, with paying tributes to the martyrs of the Kargil War under Operation Vijay. Vineeta Arora, Director Education-cum-Senior Principal, and Suparna Bansal, Vice-Principal, welcomed the team and congratulated the participants on their successful conclusion of the expedition. Vineeta Arora commended their resilience and determination, stating that such experiences shape character and instil a strong sense of national pride and responsibility. The expedition followed a rigorous schedule. The route progressed through Manali-Jispa-Sarchu-Pang-Upshi-Leh, crossing key high passes such as Baralacha La and Tanglang La, and traversing the More Plains. The itinerary also included a visit to Indian Astronomical Observatory in Hanle — one of the world’s highest observatories — and an inspirational and interactive session with the Ladakh Scouts, which provided valuable insights into the regiment’s history, its formation, and its significant contributions in various wars. The session was both informative and engaging, enabling students to develop a deeper understanding of the dedication and service of the armed forces. The team was also given a supervised, simulated shooting session, where they were introduced to the handling of rifles and pistols under expert guidance. The visit was further distinguished by an interaction with Major Ignace Tirki, Indian Field Hockey Olympian and Padma Shri recipient, whose exemplary achievements served as a source of inspiration for all present. The team arrived back in Chandigarh on June 19.
