Bol Bol fires 50 as TNT turns back Titan Ultra

MANILA, Philippines — Bol Bol dropped 50 points, including 14 in a critical fourth quarter run as TNT turned back Titan Ultra, 97-92 for its fifth win in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup on Saturday at the Ynares Center in Montalban.

The 7-foot-3 Bol took charge while former Chicago Bull forward and South Sudan Federation basketball head Loul Deng watched at the sidelines.

The six-year NBA veteran finished with 16 rebounds also, along with six blocks as TNT improved to 5-2.

Rey Nambatac was the only other TNT player to score in double figures with 12 points.

TNT overcame the absence of Calvin Oftana who got ejected in the opening quarter after being assessed with flagrant foul penalty 2 following a collision with Titan rookie Mark Denver Omega at the 4:53 mark.

“We had to rely on the scoring of Bol to make up for the absence of our gunners. That’s why it was Bol who had to take the bulk of the scoring for us,” said Tropang 5G coach Chot Reyes.

Earl Gilmore led Titan Ultra with 33 points, while Joshua Munzon added 21 points, five assists and four steals, but they are not enough as the Giant Risers fell to 2-5.
