The prospect of a collaboration between Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, as championed by the so-called 'Bossku' supporters, is nothing short of a cynical farce.
The idea that these two former prime ministers, each with their baggage of political controversies and scandals, could be the saviours of the nation is laughable.
Najib Razak, a figure mired in the infamous 1MDB scandal and found guilty of embezzlement, hardly seems like a messiah for a country suffering from economic hardships and rising living costs. It's as if the supporters are suggesting that a cat burglar should be entrusted with guarding the treasury.
And let's not forget Muhyiddin Yassin, who had his own share of political maneuvering and opportunism. His history of switching allegiances and his role in the Perikatan Nasional government hardly inspires confidence. The hope that he and Najib could join forces to tackle the nation's issues is like hoping that oil and water will magically mix.
The fact that these supporters are willing to ignore the acrimonious history between Najib and Muhyiddin only underscores the desperation of the situation. These two were at odds in the past, and their supposed reconciliation now, driven by political expediency, lacks authenticity.
Moreover, the assertion by Pertubuhan Jalinan Perpaduan Negara Malaysia's president, Syed Muhammad Imran Syed Abdul Aziz, that the partnership will lead to lower costs of living and increased subsidies is dubious at best. It seems more like a case of wishful thinking than a well-thought-out plan.
The idea that Syed and Papagomo represent the true sentiments of Najib's supporters, especially when Najib's own daughter disavows them, is another indication of the confusion and chaos within this proposed alliance.
In the end, the notion of Najib and Muhyiddin as the nation's saviours is nothing more than political theater, devoid of substance and merit. It's a cynical attempt to manipulate the current economic hardships of the people for political gain, and the Malaysian public deserves better than this empty spectacle.
