
Phagwara: Unidentified miscreants allegedly targeted the mother of an Aam Aadmi Party leader and fled after snatching her gold earrings in Phagwara. Victim Swarnjeet Kaur said she was sitting outside her office while her daughter-in-law was taking a walk in the lane nearby. A youth approached her and snatched the earrings from both her ears before fleeing from the spot. AAP leader Mintu Walia said CCTV footage had captured the accused carrying out the crime, while another accomplice was waiting on a motorcycle nearby. Both suspects escaped immediately after executing the snatching. oc
Man held for brewing liquor
Phagwara: The Nurmahal police have arrested a villager on charge of brewing illicit liquor. Two bottles of hooch and 20 litre lahan (raw liquor) and utensils for brewing were recovered from the accused Makhan Ram, a resident of Taggarr (Fatehpur) village. A case under Sections 61/1/14 of the Excise Act has been registered against the accused. oc
Migrant tipper driver arrested
Phagwara: The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested a migrant tipper driver on the charge of causing death by negligence. The accused has been identified as Golu Kumar, a resident of Muzaffarpur district, Bihar, Tarlok Chand of Sriganganagar in Rajasthan had complained to the police that the accused was driving his tipper tanker negligently on May 22 evening and hit his son Raj Kumar at Tut Kalan village resulting in his death. oc
Man held under NDPS Act
Phagwara: The Bilga police have arrested a man on the charge of selling intoxicating tablets. As many as 42 intoxicating tablets were recovered from the possession of the accused Amarjit Singh, alias Marru, resident of Talwann village. A case under Sections 22/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused. oc
