There is no doubting Bryson DeChambeau’s ability with a driver in his hands.
The LIV Golf star is the longest hitter in the game, and he’s actually one of the straightest as well.
The 32-year-old American ranked 14th in driving accuracy on LIV in 2025, hitting almost two thirds of all fairways.
DeChambeau is unquestionably the biggest star on LIV Golf.
He has a huge following all over the world, so anything he says regarding ways that amateur golfers can improve has an enormous reach.
The two-time U.S. Open champion may go about things differently to almost every other professional golfer on the planet, but his way of doing things clearly works … for him at least.

DeChambeau secured his first LIV Golf win in 2026 last week in Singapore and as per usual, his elite driving was the key to his victory.
Now he has given a great tip for any amateur golfers looking to improve their ball-striking.
Bryson DeChambeau’s drill to help amateurs hit better shots more consistently
DeChambeau described this tip for improved ball-striking as ‘psychotic’.
However, there is a method behind his madness.
During a video filmed for LIV Golf’s X account back in May 2024, DeChambeau shared a drill to help amateur golfers improve their ball-striking.
However, be warned. You must be in a ‘safe environment’ when attempting this…
“A drill that’s very helpful for learning where the club is in space,“ DeChambeau started to explain.
“This may sound crazy. You’ve got to learn to hit the golf ball with your eyes closed.
“Make sure you’re in a safe environment where you’re not gonna toe shank it or heel shank it, or chunk it, thin it, and hit someone.

“But the most important thing you can do is learn where the centre of that club is at all times with your eyes closed.
“If you can do that, you’re on your pathway to hitting it the best in the world.
“I mean, that’s what the best in the world can do, is they can literally close their eyes and hit the ball and know where it’s going off the face by their input.
“It’s a bit psychotic, but what else is new with me?“
How Bryson DeChambeau’s tip actually works
The key to DeChambeau’s tip is that closing your eyes helps you become more aware of where your clubface is throughout the backswing.
The more you practice this drill, the more you will become accustomed to feeling where the clubface is, both during your backswing and downswing.
For example, if you’re someone who has the clubface closed at impact, by closing your eyes, your other senses will become more intense, and you will be able to feel that the clubface is, indeed, laid off at the top of your backswing.
And vice versa for those who have an open clubface at the top of their swings.
You will also gain more of a feel for your club path. With your eyes closed, it’s much easier to feel whether you are taking the club back on the inside and coming over the top or on the outside and dropping it back inside on the downswing.
It’s worth noting that this is an extremely difficult drill to come to terms with straight away. As DeChambeau said, you need to practice this in a very safe environment.
I competed on the mini-tour circuit in America for four years and got down to a plus-four handicap before turning pro.
This is a drill I used regularly whenever I felt lost with my swing or was struggling with my ball-striking.
Any amateur golfer looking to improve their game should give this a try, if you have access to a place where it’s safe to do so!
