In a world growing more uncertain by the day, this is the budget that Malaysia needs. The benefits must find its way home, into the pay packets, the dinner tables & the dreams of majority ordinary Malaysians. What makes the RM510 billion Madani Budget truly extraordinary is that the government is not carrying the load alone. Government-Linked Investment Companies (GLICs) will also be mobilized for the RM25 billion in domestic investment, joined by RM11 billion in public-private partnerships. Bakat (Talent) Madani aimed for 30,000 new jobs for Malaysian youth with the private sector at its side. This talent development programs will provide training & quality employment opportunities for 25,000 youth in 2027. Prime Minister cum Minister of Finance Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said, “To encourage greater participation from private sector, tax deductions will be provided to companies that implement Bakat Madani programs from 29 June, 2026 to 31 Dec, 2030.”

I recall last June, Finance Minister 11 Datuk Amir Hamzah Azizan revealed “Nearly 8,000 youth had received scholarships worth a total of RM250 million annually over the past 5 years under the Bakat Madani initiative, which is run by GLICs, GLCs and Petronas. More than 90% of the youth came from low and middle income families. This program aims to provide skills training, reskilling & upskilling, employment opportunities and greater social mobility to 25,000 beneficiaries from mid-2026 to 2027. It targeted for the creation of relevant 350,000 jobs within the span of five years.”

As Management educator & corporate human resource development (HRD) practitioner, I support the government in continuing to invest in job opportunities, education, training and development to build entrepreneurial youth capability, professional & specialist networks. With these initiatives, the outcomes from Budget 2027 will come back to the nation with high productivity & performance.
