VC Sat Prakash Bansal hands over offer letters to students, who secured placement offers, at the CUHP in Dharamsala.

A total of 44 students from the Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP), Dharamsala, have secured placements and pre-placement offers from various companies and organisations during the current financial year. Vice-Chancellor Sat Prakash Bansal handed over the offer letters to the selected students at a function held on the campus on Monday.

Bansal said that the university was working towards promoting a skill development-oriented education system so that students could secure employment opportunities with ease after completing their degrees. He added that the university had emerged as one of the leading institutions in the country in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP).

He said that various departments in the university were developing and teaching skill-based courses while regularly organising activities and programmes focused on training and placements. Recently, several departments had invited companies to the campus for pre-placement interactions, which led to the selection of the students of different streams.

Bansal said that the university would continue making dedicated efforts to strengthen students’ training and employment prospects. The Director of the Training and Placement Cell, Amit Gangotia, said that under the guidance of the Vice-Chancellor, sustained efforts were being made to enhance placement opportunities for students. He added that of the 44 selected students, 30 were of the MBA course and received pre-placement offers from various companies, including Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Power, Vardhman Group, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, Swaraj Tractors, Axis Max Life Insurance and Bajaj Finance.

He said that eight students of the Department of Social Work had been selected for the Gandhi Fellowship, while three students of the same department had been selected by the Azim Premji Foundation. Besides, students of the sociology, history and economics departments also received pre-placement offers from the Azim Premji Foundation.

Controller of Examinations Jitender Kumar, Vice-Chancellor’s Secretary Suman Sharma, Assistant Director of the Training and Placement Cell Arun Bhatia, besides Amit Bansatre, Chandan Anand, Coordinator Shabab Ahmad, Sarvesh, Rita and students of various departments were present on the occasion.
