MANILA, Philippines — The Cignal Super Spikers officially announced that the team is taking a break in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) on Tuesday afternoon.
Cignal, which made a silver finish in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference and made a promising campaign, posted its statement on its socials.
“This is to officially announce that the Cignal Super Spikers-Women’s Volleyball Team filed a Leave of Absence in the Premier Volleyball League,” the statement wrote.
“This difficult decision was taken after careful review of Cignal’s strategic direction. Our deepest thanks go out to the players, coaches, and staff, who have poured their hearts into this team over the years.”
The Finals clash between Cignal and the Creamline Cool Smashers last April 23 marks the franchise's last appearance in the PVL.
The franchise has finished with five bronze and three silver medals since its franchise in 2022.
Cignal’s Vanie Gandler also received conference MVP honors.
On her Instagram stories, Gandler shared the team’s announcement with a broken heart emoji.
The team’s departure followed its men’s team, which also filed a leave of absence from the Spiker’s Turf last year, as well as 2025 All-Filipino and Reinforced Conference Champions Petro Gazz Angels, that also filed a similar absence leave last year.
