
A day after taking charge, newly appointed Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Ojasvi Alankar moved into the field on Tuesday morning to review cleanliness across various parts of the city.
Under the ongoing ‘Mission Clean Punjab’ led by Local Bodies Minister Harjot Singh Bains, cleanliness drives are being carried out across the city.
On Tuesday, the Municipal Corporation Commissioner, Ojasvi Alankar, began his inspection at around 7 am from Samrala Chowk. He checked main roads and also visited nearby residential areas to assess sanitation conditions.
Zonal Commissioner Neeraj Jain, Chief Sanitation Officer (CSO) Ravi Dogra, CSI Nishu Ghai, among others, accompanied him during the visit.
On assuming charge on Monday, Alankar had issued stringent directions to civic officials to remain proactive in the field and deliver citizen services with transparency and efficiency.
He said cleanliness in the city was among his top priorities and that no laxity would be tolerated in this regard.
He further directed senior officials, including the Zonal Commissioners, to undertake field visits on a regular basis.
Alankar also instructed officials to take feedback from residents and resolve ground-level issues at
the earliest.
Meanwhile, he appealed to residents to support the authorities by avoiding dumping waste in the open. He said surprise inspections would continue in the coming days to ensure cleanliness across the city.
