Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday said the BJP’s emphatic victory in the civic body elections reflected the people’s growing trust in the politics of development, transparency, good governance and nationalism under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Addressing a felicitation ceremony in Panchkula organised to honour newly elected mayors, chairpersons and councillors of urban local bodies, the Chief Minister thanked the people of Haryana for giving the BJP what he described as an “overwhelming mandate”.

Saini also lauded BJP workers for reaching out to voters despite the intense summer heat and taking the government’s welfare policies to every household. He said the results showed that people had firmly rejected the Congress’ “politics of dynasticism, falsehood, misinformation and negativity” and endorsed the BJP’s development-oriented governance model.

Taking a swipe at the Opposition, the Chief Minister said the verdict had delivered a clear message that voters now expected “performance, not rhetoric; delivery, not hollow promises.” He added that by supporting the BJP in urban local bodies, the electorate had chosen a “triple-engine government” committed to accelerating development works.

According to Saini, the mandate was also an endorsement of Prime Minister Modi’s pro-poor welfare policies and the guiding philosophy of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas”. He said the poor, farmers, youth, women, traders and employees across the country now felt secure and confident under the Prime Minister’s leadership, which, he added, was the reason behind the BJP’s consistent electoral success.

Highlighting the party’s performance in the civic polls, Saini said the BJP had already registered decisive victories in municipal corporation elections in Hisar, Gurugram, Yamunanagar and Faridabad, and had now secured “one-sided support” in the municipal elections of Panchkula, Ambala and Sonepat as well. He maintained that public faith in the BJP’s development agenda continued to strengthen across municipal corporations, councils and committees.

The Chief Minister said the past 11 years had witnessed transformative changes both nationally and in Haryana. He claimed that welfare initiatives launched by the Centre and the state government had strengthened poor families and farmers while bringing meaningful improvements in the lives of women.

Referring to recent electoral gains in Assam and West Bengal, Saini expressed confidence that people in Punjab would also place their trust in the BJP and Prime Minister Modi’s policies in future elections.

Congratulating the newly elected representatives, Saini urged them to view the mandate as “a message of service, not power”. He asked them to prioritise civic issues such as roads, drinking water, electricity supply and public utilities while working with the spirit of “Nagarik Devo Bhava”.

He also assured that the promises made in the election manifesto would be implemented “in letter and spirit”, adding that 63 of the 217 Assembly poll “Sankalp” had already been fulfilled, while work on the remaining commitments was progressing rapidly.
