MANILA, Philippines — The state-run weather agency said on Monday that it is closely monitoring several cloud clusters or formations spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), which have the chance to turn into a low-pressure area (LPA).
However, it did not provide further details on possible developments of the cloud formations for the coming days.
Meanwhile, weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the shear line or convergence of hot and cold air was expected to dump rain over the Visayas, Sorsogon, Masbate, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur.
“Flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains would be possible in these areas,” he told reporters at a 5 a.m. briefing.
The rest of Mindanao, according to the Pagasa forecaster, would likely have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, on one hand, would have partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated light rain showers due to the northeast monsoon, locally known as ‘amihan’, within the next 24 hours, the national weather bureau said.
